Be My Love

Be My Love was written for the film The Toast of New Orleans in 1950 and was nominated for an Academy Award in the same year.  The story revolves around a rough-and-tumble fisherman from the Louisiana Bayous, who is gifted with a wonderful, if unschooled voice.  He is discovered by the director of the New Orleans French Opera (David Niven) and falls in love with the prima donna, a refined young soprano (Kathryn Grayson).  The film has sunk into obscurity, but Be My Love survives as one of Mario Lanza’s best-known signature songs.

This arrangement has firmly established itself in the euphonium repertoire over the years and remains one of Ray Farr’s most popular arrangements.
