Lois Eifion

Lois gained her Music degree at Bangor University in Wales where she continued her studies for a further year and gained a Masters Degree in Music Composition.  During her time at Bangor, Lois won several prizes for her work as she competed at local and inter-collegiate levels, but in 2013 Lois won the prestigious Composer’s Medal Award at the Urdd National Eisteddfod in Wales.

At the age of 9, when Lois was already a keen and promising pianist and singer, she was introduced to the world of brass bands where she began to learn to play the cornet at Deiniolen Silver Band.  She moved on to play the Baritone whilst at the youth band and then moved up to become a member of the main band until 2012 when she was offered the role of the band’s Conductor at the age of 22.  Lois is the band’s very first female Conductor since they formed in 1835 and her first competition as the band’s Conductor was at the National Eisteddfod of Wales in 2013 where they won first prize in the Championship/1st Section.  Eight years later The Deiniolen Silver Band is still going from strength to strength under Lois’ baton.

Day by day, Lois works for the Schools Music Service in Gwynedd as a Brass, Piano and Singing Tutor, and is still composing and arranging for several different occasions in her free time.
